Helpful Tips
- Empty any standing water — this is the most important control measure. Change the water in birdbaths several times a week.
- Repair any leaky faucets, clean out leaf-clogged gutters, and screen or cover rain barrels where water may pool. Mosquitoes need very little water to lay their eggs!
- Citronella torches placed around the yard are quite helpful in controlling mosquitoes.
- Plant mosquito-repelling plants such as lavender, marigolds, lemongrass, catnip, rosemary, basil, and geraniums.
